We offer a combination of core and recreational services that are designed to help you and your child.
We provide positive behaviour support – teaching goals as outlined in school, home or community setting. We also provide the means to help children become more successful by increasing their social emotional strengths and skills replacing negative behaviors with positive ones, which increases their independence in all areas of their development.
We provide support to families who may need to take a break. Respite is provided in a location other than the family home and can be up to two days in duration unless other arrangements are made.
For ages 14-18 years old, we are have reached out to school district 43 asking for student volunteers for peer to peer interaction. It is our belief that involving student of the same age and peer group in our programs will be crucial to its success, Activities will include sports, dances, outings to museums, festivals, plays, lunches etc.
Unique Get Together Society staff will facilitate the program. Meeting place be a Minnekhada Community School Fridays from 6-9 pm, this is a unique volunteer opportunity in a fun, enlightening and fulfilling environment, with youth with special needs and their peers very. Empowering for both parties it’s an opportunity to give teenagers perspective they may not otherwise experience.
The Snoezelen Room is a therapeutic and recreational room used to help children with developmental disabilities, those with mental illness and post-traumatic stress disorder, autism, and other conditions. Learn More
We offer drop off and pick up to and from school for all ages.
Come hike with us every Monday in January. We meet at Rocky Point Park at the picnic tables between 9-9:30 a.m. We explore local trails in and around the Tri-Cities, meet other women and have a great time. All while getting in some exercise when the kids are at school.
Our spring and summer day camps are not only fun, they’re great learning environments for children with special abilities. Your child will interact with others and learn valuable social skills. Spring camp runs for the full two weeks and summer camp runs for six weeks. Both are filled with activities, day trips and a ton of fun and learning.
One Saturday per month parents and caregivers can drop off their child/children from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Every parent can have a free Saturday thanks to partnerships with local businesses: services for parents include dinners, spa for moms, haircuts, weekend getaways, etc.
During the summer, we offer fun-filled field trips for children who have special abilities. Divided into two age groups (8-13 & 14-18) children get to explore sporting events, local fairs, firework displays and other socially engaging activities around town.
