The Food Hamper Volunteer will work alongside fellow volunteers and UGTS staff to facilitate and manage food hamper donations and deliveries. As well as build and maintain good relationships with our current and prospective clients.
Volunteer Food Hamper Driver/Helper Responsibilities:
● Facilitating and coordinating the Food Hamper programs day to day operations.
● Pick up food donations from various donors.
● Stock food storage area with food donations
● Organize donations into food hampers to prepare for distribution
● Deliver food hampers to client’s homes
● Call clients upon arrival to ensure an individual is available to retrieve the food hamper
● Work with and report to the Food Hamper Coordinator
● Accurately report and submit timesheets to the Director of Operations
● Proactively build and maintain client relationships
● Collects and helps track monthly program activity
● Support with daily food and food space health and safety standards
● Interact with Youth and visitors in a positive and welcoming manner
● Maintain general upkeep
Experience/Qualifications:
● 1-2 years of food service/relevant experience.
● Safe Food Handler Certification.
● Standard First Aid Certification.
● Recently cleared criminal record check.
● Valid Driver’s license in BC
● Drivers Abstract
● Excellent presentation skills – at ease engaging in front of groups of all ages and experience levels.
● Strong knowledge of food safety and food facility operations including Health & Safety, Government
Regulations, and health codes.
● Knowledge of basic sanitation requirements and food handling safety standards.
● Strong verbal and written communication skills.
● Must have strong problem-solving skills.
● Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
● Excellent organizational skills with high attention to detail.
● Have strong customer service skills.
Hours of work: Weekends and Thursdays.
