Requirements
The successful candidate will:
Valid drivers license is an asset.
First Aid Certification (Level C)
Criminal Record Check (Including Vulnerable Sector Check)
Have 1 years' experience supporting individuals with complex needs within a residential setting.
Have a degree or diploma in related field, or equivalent experience.
Be proficient in Trauma Informed Care, Harm Reduction, Positive Behavioral
Supports, and Attachment Theory.
Experience and knowledge on Indigenous Cultural is a must.
Indigenous Language speaker or Knowledge Holder is an asset
Ability to work in a culturally safe manner
Responsibilities
Use Behavioral intervention strategies.
Provide 1 on 1 support for Children and Youth.
Engaging with the community to further our programs and services clientele.
Provide culturally rich opportunities for children to participate in indoor and land-based experiences.
Provide behavior support to youth that may be experiencing anger or abuse issues, mental health issues, special needs or drug and alcohol use.
Participate in individualized service planning which will include assessment and goal setting with youth.
Increase young people’s knowledge about issues impacting their health & safety, and provide youth with tools to protect and maintain their well-being;
Help youth recognize high risk behaviors, and manage the risks associated with their day to day living;
Crisis intervention as needed; including attending appointments with youth;
Use behavioral intervention strategies to de-escalate situations and to support clients having troubles with emotional regulation.
Promote social and emotional well-being.
Ensure safe, healthy environments.
Encourage healthy habits by cooking, cleaning and maintaining good hygiene.
Providing recreational opportunities to optimize engagement.
Documenting activities, client progress and other necessary information.
Positively engage with the community.
Advocate for services.
Work with individual youth to support their goals including intake, goal setting, and follow-up;
Staff are encouraged to participate in on-going professional development to ensure that they are always at the forefront of wise practice within the sector.
Pay: 18-24$/hr
